Without any illusions about the ulterior motives of Christian Estrosi, this referendum nonetheless presents a dual interest:

Our fellow citizens will be consulted on a project with significant implications for the city. I deeply regret that on the tramway tunnel project, the mayor of Nice did not have the same attitude. But this referendum creates a precedent and reinforces the idea, supported by the Front de Gauche list during the last municipal elections in Nice: a referendum on all structuring projects.

The privatization of our airport is one aspect of the Macron law, which sells off national heritage and amplifies social regression. This referendum is an opportunity for us to say no to a project of law that aims to deregulate the labor code, dismantle public transport services, privatize airports and public dams, and extend Sunday work…

Contrary to what some elected officials from Nice (Bettati, Arnautu…) may claim, nothing is decided. The only battles that are lost in advance are those that are not fought. Today, the government, within its own majority, is struggling to adopt this bill, and P. Allemand’s refusal of such a referendum is easily understood…
