Ahead at the break (20-12), the Azuréens saw RCAV come back to tie the score in the second half but managed to maintain their lead, ultimately winning 26-25.
With this victory, Stade Niçois repositions itself in the standings, while waiting to host Cognac next weekend, an opponent that should be well within their reach.
The Ardèche players started the game well (3-0, 3rd then 6-0, 9th) before Bessaguet dove between the posts (6-13, 28th). Baudy responded just after for a high tackle (9-13, 31st), but from a scrum exit, Bessaguet served his winger Bureitakiyaca who sprinted to the try line (9-20, 35th).
Although Baudy reduced the score before the break (12-20, 37th), right after the restart, Jones added three points (12-23, 43rd). Winger Clément brought the game back to life with a perfect kick from Renou (19-23, 48th) before Baudy brought RCAV to within a point (22-23, 56th). But after missing from over 50 meters, Jones scored the decisive penalty that ensured the very narrow victory for Nice (22-26, 67th), despite a final score by Baudy (25-26, 73rd).
