This Thursday, at the Municipal Technical Center of Saint-Laurent-du-Var, a demonstration of the “Fire Balls” or Paro Feu automatic extinguisher balls was organized, which the municipal police will be acquiring.
Joseph Segura, the mayor of the town, was present along with Olivier Cases, the Head of the municipal police, and several representatives from the company Preservation of Heritage, which markets the tool. The company specializes in renovation works using sustainable materials and energy savings.
Under the gloomy weather of this Thursday morning, we discover the Paro Feu fire protection device, a ball weighing 1.3 kilos and containing extinguishing powder. It works by inhibiting the flames and heat of an incipient fire. Very easy to use, this small sphere will soon be adopted by the municipal police officers of Saint-Laurent-du-Var. “Each of our vehicles is already equipped with an extinguisher, but it requires us to get close to the flames. The Fire Ball is an additional tool for the police and a gain in efficiency. It is important to remember that we are always the first responders at the site of an accident or conflict,” explains Olivier Cases.
How does the extinguisher ball work?
Paro Feu can be placed or thrown into the flames of an emerging fire. In a few seconds, it will explode producing a detonation of 120 decibels (the noise serves as a warning of danger). It releases a yellowish extinguishing powder with a fire and heat inhibiting function. Harmless, it can cause no physical injury, although it is advised to stand one meter away from the detonation. Born in Thailand, the concept is certified to European and French standards.
It should be noted that individuals can also acquire this tool to secure a home. Paro Feu has a base to place in certain strategic areas that may catch fire. In the case of absence, the ball will automatically activate and perhaps prevent a tragedy.
