Saint-Martin de Vésubie: Presentation of the Book “The Oceanic Alps”

Latest News

This Saturday, July 7, there will be a book signing session at the Mercantour bookstore La Vagabonde starting at 4:30 PM in Saint-Martin de Vésubie with the presence of the authors Mathieu Vernerey (photographer) and Michel Corsini (geologist) followed by a conference at the Maison du Parc “Geology of the Mercantour, between sea and mountains” at 8:30 PM with Michel Corsini (geologist).

“The Oceanic Alps,” a photo book published by Les Éditions du Fournel, traces the oceanic past and maritime destiny of the Southern Alps, between Viso and the Mediterranean. A particular atmosphere that is successfully recreated through images both aesthetic and symbolic, restoring the intimate link between the sea and these mountains. Geological history, evocation of ancient myths, this astonishing Odyssey in texts and images traces the quest of the ancient Tethys ocean to the highest peaks, from valley floors to the abyssal heights of the summits.

The Maritime Alps, a bridge between sea and mountains, constitute a large part of this work which includes a portfolio, a geological exposition, and a narrative whose story begins in Nice. It unveils the Mercantour and Argentera massifs in a new light, at the heart of the Mediterranean theme (French Riviera, Corsica, Ligurian Sea).
