Did you know? For the past two years, the University of Nice has been hosting its Master 2 students in Arts Management in Saint-Paul de Vence! This year, four of them are organizing a contemporary art event. The event is called “Make Me Courted!” and will be held until March 11, 2012, at the Espace André Verdet in Saint-Paul de Vence.
It’s a group exhibition of artists from different backgrounds. It lets the artwork speak to the spectator: “Make Me Courted!”. This invitation from surprising contemporary art, often perceived as hermetic, means that it is no longer about seducing the audience but about challenging them, questioning them: approach, look at me, what do you see? It’s then up to the spectator to take a step towards the work, to tame it, to get to know it. In essence, to court it! The aim is to create a playful space of inquiry, awareness, and democratization of contemporary art.

10 AM: Philosophy Conference: Deconstruction in Contemporary Art
Speaker: Marc Alpozzo, Philosophy Professor: Questioning and debate on the radical deconstruction of the aesthetic foundations of fine arts in contemporary art. Art today often encounters this exclamation: “This is not art!”. Is artistic practice a form of mockery? What does this production of the informal mean?
2 PM: Psychoanalysis Conference: The Subject of Creation
Speaker: Catherine Méhu, Psychoanalyst AEFL: Is the artist the subject of their creation? What processes do they implement to express themselves?

2 PM: Psychoanalysis Conference: Who Creates the Work? The Role of the Viewer.
Speakers: Claudine Hunault, Director: What is the place of the spectator in the creation of the work? Would the work exist only through the recognition of the other? Who creates the work when it is informal and reflects what the spectator wishes to project onto it?
- These three days will be accompanied by artistic performances.
