After the first edition of the “solidarity back-to-school” operation, organized by the association “Les Harleys du cลur”, which managed to collect more than 1.3 tons of new school supplies, the big-hearted bikers are back in action this year.
“The start of the school year is a difficult time for families,” explains Angรฉlique Alasta, press officer for the association.
This initiative is going to allow underprivileged children, as well as hospitalized children at the CHU of Nice and the Antoine Lacassagne center, to enjoy a school start “like any other child.”
A very simple operation. The “giants in leather jackets” will be stationed in the halls of Carrefour Lingostiรจre, Antibes, or even Carrefour Market of Ariane, accompanied by their motorcycles, to collect the new supplies that customers are willing to donate.
The association can also count on very involved partners, such as the AC Marriott hotels in Nice, Juan-les-Pins, and Cap d’Ail. “We have been delighted to be partners for the past 9 years, it truly matters to us; it’s an integral part of our hotel’s culture,” says Marie Condรฉ, representative of the AC Marriott hotel Nice and Cap d’Ail.

To reach as many people as possible, Les Harleys du Cลur also collaborate with the MIR association, which has a social and solidarity grocery store, allowing for the redistribution of new supplies. “The Harleys help us a lot, last year they offered us at least 350 kilos of school supplies,” details Marc Maisonneuve, President of the association, before continuing, “all families facing great difficulties need school supplies. Some have just arrived in France, others sometimes have only one parent.”
Even though last year some supplies did not find takers in Nice, they were sent to Africa.
This year the goal is to collect even more than last year. According to Claude Abejan, President of the association Les Harleys du Cลur, “this kind of initiative always makes us want to go further, to bring more joy each year, it makes us forget our own worries.”
