On Sunday, 87,000 grand electors were called to the polls for the renewal of half of the Senate seats (172 out of 348). With 95% of them having been designated during the last municipal elections, the political balances have been slightly modified.
As expected, the senatorial right retains its majority in the Luxembourg Palace, after an election marked by a green surge that allows the ecologists to reestablish a parliamentary group.
The President’s party, a big loser in the municipal elections, was weakened but in the end, LREM managed to limit the damage.
The socialist group did not fare too badly with a relatively stable score, while the RN retains its seat.
Gérard Larcher will have no trouble keeping the presidency of this assembly.
