Sidaction 2022: HIV/AIDS is everyone’s concern

Latest News

The Sidaction 2022 weekend concludes this Sunday, March 27. Once again this year, this initiative needs to exist. This virus is far from losing momentum. The pandemic has had direct consequences on testing.

HIV, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is a sexually transmitted human retrovirus. It weakens the immune system and, in the absence of treatment, is responsible for AIDS. In France, 173,000 people are believed to be living with HIV.

This year, Sidaction calls for “the mobilization of the largest possible number of people in the name of a universal value: love. HIV does not make love disappear, but out of love, we can make HIV disappear.”

Among those who discovered they were HIV-positive in 2020, 43% are men who have sex with men. It is little or not well known, but the AIDS virus remains the leading cause of death among women aged 15 to 49.

According to UNAIDS, 7.7 million deaths worldwide could be linked to AIDS between 2021 and 2030 if the coverage of prevention services and treatments does not improve rapidly.
