Thus, the cantons of Nice 1, Nice 2, Nice 4, Nice 6, Nice 9, and Nice 13 will be in the spotlight with 51 candidates across various starting lines. While some cantons seem destined for a predictable outcome, others are much more open with a near certainty of a second round. Nice Premium has conducted a review of the forces, even venturing into a prediction that only binds us.
Overview of the renewable cantons in Nice: the 1st canton (Old Port-Nice), the 2nd canton (city center), the 4th canton (Musicians’ Quarter, Notre-Dame), the 6th canton (Pasteur, East Cimiez), the 9th canton (Magnan, La Madeleine, West Hills), the 13th canton (L’Ariane, St André and La Trinité). Full focus today on the first canton:
CANTON NICE 1:
Candidates: Eric CIOTTI (UMP), Marc CONCAS (PS-Greens-MRC), Doriane DUCONSEILLE (LCR), Michel FRANCOIS (MEI), Céline LACROIX (Socialist & Democrat), Dominique LESCURE (Identitaries), Colette MÔ-BOIS (PCF), Christophe RICERCHI (Communists), Alain ROULLIER (SE), and Lydia SCHENARDI (FN).
Everything should logically play out between the incumbent general councilor, Marc Concas, and the deputy Eric Ciotti, the two strongmen of the two participants in the municipal election, Patrick Allemand (PS-Greens-MRC) and Christian Estrosi (UMP). It is hard to see how another candidate could find a place in a second round that seems destined for a fierce duel in the two emblematic neighborhoods of Vieux-Nice and the Port.
Prediction: Marc Concas and Eric Ciotti in the second round.
CANTON NICE 2:
Candidates: Brigitte FERRARI (Republican Agreement), Jean ICART (DVD), Jean-Marc LEBAU (FN), Yann LIBRATTI (PS-Greens-MRC), Régis MEZZASALMA (PCF), André MINETTO (MoDem), and Philippe VARDON (Identitaries).
The incumbent general councilor, Jean Icart, nevertheless has a strong challenge this time with the candidacies of Yann Libratti and Brigitte Ferrari who, although they are not from the same political affiliation, see in Jean Icart’s candidacy, one close to Christian Estrosi. Thus, a second round seems quite likely with a significant unknown: the number of qualifiers for the second week.
Prediction: Jean Icart and Yann Libratti in the second round.
Outsider: Brigitte Ferrari
CANTON NICE 4:
Candidates: Philippe AVALLONI (PCF), Elisabeth CARON (Alter-globalist Left), Frédéric CARREZ (MoDem), Sylvie GAUTIER (PS), Jean-Michel MULLER (FN), Joël SIMON (Socialist and Democrat), Brigitte TANAUJI-DAHAN (Republican Agreement), and Auguste VEROLA (UMP)
In this canton too, Auguste Verola, also supported by the President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, is the favorite. However, Brigitte Tanauji-Dahan, Joël Simon, or Sylvie Gautier have not yet said their last word, and a presence in the second round would not be a big surprise for one of them.
Prediction: Auguste Verola and Brigitte Tanauji-Dahan in the second round.
Outsider: Sylvie Gautier
CANTON NICE 6:
Candidates: Fabien BENARD (MoDem), Jean-Louis FAUDI (FN), Emmanuelle GAZIELLO (PCF), Pierre LAIGLE (Socialist and Democrat), Benoît LOEUILLET (Identitarians), Jean-Pierre MANGIAPAN (UMP), Vincent PECHENOT (The Greens), and Jean-Pierre PISONI (Communists).
A canton that could have been a walk in the park for the incumbent general councilor Jean-Pierre Mangiapan who is also a running mate on a list in Villefranche sur Mer. However, in politics, one must deal with competitors and the presence of Pierre Laigle or even Fabien Benard
could well force the incumbent to a second round always fraught with peril.
Prediction: Jean-Pierre Mangiapan and Pierre Laigle or to a second round.
Outsiders: Fabien Bénard and Vincent Pechenot
CANTON NICE 9:
Candidates: Modeste ALCARAZ (PCF), Joseph CALZA (UMP), Anik LE LIBOUX (Socialist and Democra…
