Ipag is organizing its 2nd study day in partnership with academics and business professionals from Paca Mรฉditerranรฉe.

This day of research is co-organized by the IPAG LAB, CEDAG, and IRD as part of the study day series “Societal Innovations around the Mediterranean,” inaugurated in 2010 at the initiative of IPAG.

Societal Innovation has been defined as “a new solution to a social problem, being more effective, efficient, sustainable, or just than existing solutions, and whose added value primarily concerns society as a whole rather than individuals” (Phills J.A.; Deiglmeier K.; Miller D., Stanford Social Innovation Review, 2008).

The Mediterranean world is undergoing major transformations. In this context, the link between “Societal Innovation and Territorial Governance” takes on its full meaning and becomes a legitimate question. Can societal innovation propose new partnership models between the various actors in the restructuring of the Mediterranean region? What role can companies play? Are we witnessing a new public governance in the Mediterranean?

Societal innovation is linked to corporate social responsibility (CSR).
CSR proposes solutions so that companies integrate social, environmental, and economic concerns into their activities.

It corresponds to an increasing demand from civil society, prompting the business world to reduce the negative impact of its economic activity on surrounding communities and to actively participate in the sustainable development of territories.

Our goal is to contribute to modeling the relationship between Societal Innovation / Companies and Territories through research projects that take into account and adapt the geo-cultural specificities of the countries around the Mediterranean basin.
