www.donnons.org is an online donation site. It is the reference site for object donations on the web. A sustainable development initiative that helps prevent waste and reduce waste in our communities, the site is also a solution to the loss of purchasing power.
The principle is simple. The site connects people who have items that have become cumbersome or outdated with those who need them. The interested parties then arrange a meeting with the owner of the item to pick it up.
donnons.org has a dual objective:
The first is a sustainable development goal: by putting back into the consumption circuit items that are still usable and would have ended up in a trash can or bin, it helps limit waste and thus the CO2 emissions related to their treatment and destruction. Through donations, the site helps reduce the carbon footprint of our objects and is an alternative to overconsumption.
The second is to allow the most disadvantaged to equip themselves for €0.
In these difficult times of gloom, donnons.org helps combat the loss of purchasing power in its own way and allows many households struggling to make ends meet to equip themselves for free.
Without the notion of bartering or selling, more than half a million items have already found new owners thanks to donnons.org.
It is a real free second-hand market. It sometimes requires small repairs, but in most cases, the item is in good condition.
It can range from baby clothes to wardrobes, including prams or car seats. You can also find pianos, cars, or even hi-fi equipment, computers, or household appliances…
Since TV media took an interest in donnons.org in March 2008, public interest in this initiative has significantly increased.
500,000 items donated in less than 3 years
250,000 “donor” members or members subscribed to the donation alert list.
Approximately 60,000 daily visitors
Using the site is simple. In 1 or 2 clicks, you can find out what is available to donate near you. The site operates for France, Switzerland, Belgium, and recently for Canada.
The registered user has the option to subscribe to a newsletter to be informed of donations close to them.
Communication between donors and interested parties is done through the site to protect everyone’s privacy.
All donation ads are verified by around forty members of the Donnons association, an association created in 2010 to ensure compliance with the ads and with the aim of promoting the principle of online donations.
donnons.org was developed by Olivier NASS, a computer scientist by profession and also the creator of the site vide-greniers.org, which is the reference in the field of markets and fairs.
