The first International Sports Film Festival affiliated with the prestigious International Federation of Sports Cinema and Television is organized in Sophia Antipolis (France), today and tomorrow.
This first in Sophia is organized with the support of the Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee CDOS 06, and the Regional Olympic Committee of the Cรดte d’Azur CROS.
The FICTS will be represented by its President, Professor Franco Ascani, a member of the IOC Culture and Heritage Commission.
This Festival, which relies on top-notch existing infrastructure, synergizes with the Sophia Sport Techยฎ dynamic, whereby Sophia Antipolis companies engage to collectively develop offerings, services, products, or events capable of both developing and benefiting from the image associated with the brand, which combines the values of sports and well-being, as well as technology.
The first “FICTS Sport E-Motion International Film Festival in Sophia Antipolis” ยฎ aims to rapidly become a major event enlivening the technopole, as well as a recognized element for international promotion of the territory.
The screening of finalist films will be complemented by symposia with themes of sport and health, sport and economy, and sport and technology.
Three awards will be presented: one for the best feature film, one for the best short film, and the final jury prize.
The patroness of the event is Emilie Fer, an Olympic champion (London 2012) and world champion (Prague 2013) in slalom kayaking.
During the festival period, an educational biopic from the International Olympic Committee, titled “Olympic Footage”, will be screened at the Valbonne Media Library and the Valbonne International College (CIV).
During the evenings, the first book on Sport and Cinema, written by Julien and Gรฉrad Camy and published by Editions du Bailli du Suffren, will also be presented. It is a major work with original texts by great directors and athletes, accompanied by never-before-seen and extraordinary photos. This is the result of more than two years of writing and iconographic research.
