Sports partnership between the Olympic Committees of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Lombardy region

The sports caravan is inspiring others. One of the flagship events of the Comité Départemental Olympique et Sportif 06 has made waves all the way to Italy.

The Lombardy region has shown interest in organizing a similar event on its own turf.

More than thirty dates, 31 to be exact. A schedule spread across the entire department with the constant desire to teach, understand, and practice sports with the youth. It is on these foundations that the CDOS 06 gathers hundreds of people at each of its stages.

The Carros event had a particular flavor. A different magnitude. Among the various workshops—ultimate frisbee, football, golf, athletics, road safety—a woman was wandering. A different one. As discreet as possible, aged yet it was hard to tell how much.

Her name is Claudia Giordani and unlike all other participants of the day, she has already competed in the Olympic Games. Even better, she stood on the podium, taking second place, in the slalom at the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck in 1976. She has 17 World Cup podiums to her name, including 3 gold medals. A “real” champion among future stars!

The representative of the CONI Lombardy came to sign the first step of an agreement between her organization and the French equivalent to promote the same type of event in her country. A source of pride for all.

One only needs to listen to Philippe Josselin, Carros’ sports deputy, talk about the Sports Caravan:

“These are sports that the city doesn’t necessarily offer. Golf, for example. Baseball, it’s the same. It’s the benefit of having this link with the CDOS. The goal is to introduce. At 7, 8, or 9 years old, you don’t specialize yet. It allows children to see something else. The outcomes will show in our local clubs. They discover a sport here and might come to register later. The other outcome is the attendance. We have more than 300 young participants today, which is significant.”
