After more than a month without protests against the pension reform, it seems that this Tuesday, June 6th marks their resumption. The meeting was set for 10 a.m. at Albert 1st garden.ย
“Against a government that forces its way, we are still angry!” shouts Nathalie, a CGT activist. The tone is set. For this fourteenth day of nationwide protests against the pension reform, the different unions have answered the call. As early as 10 a.m. at Albert 1st garden, flags were waving in the sea breeze: PS, PCF, Yellow Vests, CFDT, FO, Autonomous Federations, FSU, healthcare workers… Once again, this protest highlights the diversity of the activists. The atmosphere was intended to be warm, with music and food stalls.
“The fear of a feeling of resignation”
The interviewed activists express their concern about a certain feeling of resignation within public opinion. For them, this return to protests reflects the lack of consideration by the government. A deaf ear that then fuels the anger of the protesters. Furthermore, the activists emphasize that a fourteenth day of strike can weigh financially and morally on some workers. The CGT estimates that on this Tuesday, June 6th in Nice, nearly 6,500 people marched from Albert 1st garden to Liberation. However, this day did not cause major disruptions, as Lignes dโAzur did not issue a strike notice.
Thus, this day of protests allows for taking stock and questioning the continuity of the movement.
