The sub-prefecture of Grasse has a new holder. By decree of the President of the Republic dated August 6, 2026, Sabry Hani has been appointed sub-prefect of Grasse. The appointment comes a few days after the departure of Jean-Claude Geney, called to serve as delegated prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes.
Born on October 26, 1976 in Voiron (49 years old), in Isère, Sabry Hani holds a Master’s degree in public law. His early career takes place in the youth and sports sector. In 2003, he held his first position as adviser for popular education and youth within the departmental directorate of Youth and Sports of Seine-et-Marne.
From 2006 onwards, Sabry Hani became inspector of youth and sports. The new sub-prefect integrated several decentralized state services in his professional career. Then his experience within territorial administration continued within the urban community of Lyon between 2010 and 2013.
In 2015, his career took a new direction with a first position in the prefectural corps. Sabry Hani becomes sub-prefect in charge of a mission with the prefect of Var. The matters handled concern in particular economic development, employment, housing and urban policy.
From Drôme and Guadeloupe to Meaux
The rest of his career takes place in several prefectures and central administrations. In 2017, Sabry Hani is appointed chief of staff to the prefect of Drôme. Two years later, he takes a new position as chief of staff with the prefect of the Guadeloupe region.
In 2021, Sabry Hani joins the Interministerial Committee for the Prevention of Crime and Radicalization (CIPDR) as deputy secretary general. A new stage occurs in 2022 with his appointment as secretary general of the prefecture of Mayotte.
In 2024, Sabry Hani becomes sub-prefect of Meaux. The career continues in ministerial cabinets. From May 2025 to March 2026, the functions of chief of staff are exercised with two successive ministers responsible for city and housing.
His appointment in Grasse now opens a new chapter in this administrative career. At the head of the sub-prefecture, Sabry Hani will notably be in contact with local authorities and various state services on matters concerning the Grasse district. This appointment concludes the musical chairs since the departure of Laurent Hottiaux to the Pays de la Loire region last month and the appointment of Jean-Marie Girier as prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes.
