The Alpes-Maritimes continue to experience a period of intense heat on Monday, August 10. Temperatures will reach up to 36 °C in Roquebillière, Guillaumes and Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée. The mercury will also climb to 35 °C in Saint-Martin-du-Var.
In the rest of the hinterland, temperatures will be between 31 and 34 °C. On the coast, up to 35 °C are forecast. Nice will, however, remain below the values observed in certain inland towns.
A yellow alert for thunderstorms is also in effect in the Alpes-Maritimes on Monday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thunderstorms are expected mainly in the hinterland. Showers may accompany these disturbances in places.
Very warm nights expected in Nice
The heat is expected to persist in the coming days. Météo France confirms the arrival of a fifth heat wave in France during this summer of 2026. Part of the country could experience temperatures above 40 °C. However, these values are not expected in Nice or in the Alpes-Maritimes.
In Nice, the thermometer should not exceed 32 °C between August 10 and 17. The situation will be different at night. Minimum temperatures should not drop below 27 °C.
The peak heat in Nice is expected in the middle of next week. Night temperatures will be particularly high. 28 °C are forecast for Thursday and 29 °C for Friday.
The heat will therefore be felt mainly at night on the French Riviera. Daytime temperatures will remain warm, without reaching the levels forecast in certain areas of the Var, the Rhône Valley or the Southwest.
Temperatures are expected to start rising further from Tuesday, August 11. Several French regions could then record between 35 and 40 °C. In the Alpes-Maritimes, vigilance remains necessary in the face of this new period of intense heat.
