Sylvana Lorenz bares all at Depardieu’s place in Nice

Latest News

Born in 1953, Sylvana Lorenz was the creator of her own art gallery, located near the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, from 1987 to 1996. For ten years, she dedicated herself to promoting several French and international artists whose works are now valued in international auction houses: Martin Kippenberger, Gerwald Rockenschaub, Heimo Zobernig, Steven Parrino, Mark Dion, Erwin Wurm, and others. Later, she served as an expert in contemporary art at the Drouot auction house in Paris, from 1986 to 1991, and was instrumental in the first conceptual art sales in collaboration with Ghislain Mollet-Viéville. Finally, she was a professor of contemporary art at the European Higher Institute of Art (IESA), Paris, from 1991 to 1999.

Since 1997, and continuing to this day, she has been in charge of artistic communication at Pierre Cardin in Paris. Her role is similar to those of artists from the “Aesthetics of Communication” group which has existed since the 1970s and includes well-known figures like Yoko Ono. This movement offers artists a critical field of research on media and techniques for manipulating public opinion. It has given rise to works that take the form of newspapers, interventions in daily papers, television programs, photographic reports, and advertising posters.

Since 1994, by participating in various television shows, including those catering to the Jet Set on “Zone Interdite” on M6, Sylvana Lorenz has found ways to communicate about Pierre Cardin through the media, and also through publishing, with the release in 2003 of her autobiography “A nous deux, Paris!” (published by Flammarion) and the Biography of Pierre Cardin (published by Calmann-Lévy).

In the exhibition at the Depardieu gallery, she communicates about the fashion designer through her photography.
Each photograph highlights a Pierre Cardin fashion accessory: hats, gloves, brooches, belts, staged on her own nude body.

Her website www.sylvanalorenz.com presents a range of her diverse activities, all with a single aim: TO COMMUNICATE TO CREATE.
