This Sunday, October 12 at 3 PM at the Francis Gag Theater, rue de la Croix (Old Town of Nice), Nissa Pantai radio *(web radio in Occitan from Nice and alpine 24/7) will highlight the Occitan linguistic space, which is also on its logo, with more than 3 million speakers!
The festival will also pay tribute to our founding president, the great poet Alan Pelhon (1946-1994), and to the writer from Nice, Raoul Nathiez (1928-2013), director of the magazine Lou Sourgentin and theater person (author, actor, and director), founder of the troupe Lou Rodou Nissart (1977).
This festival highlights the dialects of Nice, alpine, and Provençal, which represent for us an invaluable heritage that needs to be used to survive.
The Occitan language, which includes the dialects of Nice and alpine, is present in an area called Occitania, with 15 million inhabitants (across 4 states: France, Italy, Spain, and Monaco), of whom 3 million are speakers (from Bordeaux to Menton) and is divided into different dialects: Auvergnat, Limousin, Vivaro-Alpine, Gascon, Languedocian, Provençal, and Nissart.

At 2 PM at Pierre Gautier square, the parade of the giant head of the CCÒc País Nissart e Alpenc’s eagle (created by our students) will start, accompanied by fifes and drums from Lo Cepon de Vence and Nissart and Occitan flags, arriving at the Gag theater.

Concert by the choir “Balandrin”, born in September 2004, bringing together male and female singers from the Paillon valley but also from Saorge, Piene Haute, and Nice. Their songs (polyphonies of the southern Alps), the mix of their voices, and the emotion that emerges lead us through pathways where love, celebration, work, struggles, and friendships songs intersect.
