telethon_2011.jpg The end of 2011 will be marked by an important movement of solidarity. On December 2 and 3, a series of activities will bring us together around a single cause: the fight against disease. The 2011 edition of the Telethon is sponsored by Gad Elmaleh and Raphaël, a young boy suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy, an irreversible and progressive muscle disease.

Before discussing how these two days will be organized, let’s recall the entire history of this magnificent solidarity experience.

25 years ago, the Telethon was born from the determination of a handful of parents, early activists, who managed to convince public television and viewers of the righteousness of their fight and the urgency of supporting it. Thanks to their persistence, an exceptional popular surge, and the commitment of France Télévisions, their diseases were brought out of oblivion.

25 years and many victories later, the common goal remains the same: Cure. The first victories have been won, and real revolutions have been initiated. Of course, this fight is a long-term battle, and we must see it through to the end.

Thus, the city of Nice is participating in this fight by bringing together many people for various activities:

On December 2, numerous activities will be spread throughout the street. From 4 PM to 6 PM, a bake sale organized by children will take place in the streets of Nice. At 8 PM and 9 PM, there will be a concert featuring excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker,” as well as Dukas’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” and Beethoven’s “Pastoral.”
At midnight, a raffle will be organized, with sales of various items and numerous activities for children.
On December 2 and 3, 2011, at 11:50 AM and 1:50 PM, children will participate in making a meal as well as other activities (treasure hunts, etc.). Then, at 6 AM and 6 PM, there will be an Ergometer rowing competition in relay format lasting 20 to 30 minutes.

Of course, to learn more, do not hesitate to visit the premises to share in a single cause with both children and adults.
