For the first time since 1905, the Tour will not finish on the most beautiful avenue in the world but in the Azurean capital instead.
Already announced in recent months, the news was officially confirmed this Thursday during a press conference by the city of Nice and the organizers of the Grande Boucle. Due to the Olympic Games, which will start in Paris around the same period (July 26 to August 11), the finish will take place in Nice on July 21.
The director of the Tour de France, Christian Prudhomme, explained the choice of Nice for this historic finish.
โNice is a city that shines, known worldwide. There is the beauty of the setting and the mountains nearby. The city offers an exceptional backdrop and a formidable playground for the champions that we will make use of.โ
The mayor of the city, Christian Estrosi, expressed his delight that Nice will be hosting the Tour for the 37th time in its history, recalling the last occasion in 2020 during โa difficult health context.โ
