“We have now arrived at the 21st Lusophone Cinema Week, which retains its place in the hearts of the Côte d’Azur audiences, offering a special place to Lusophone cinemas and cultures,” comments Pedro da Nobrega, one of the leading figures of the event.
This year, the selection oscillates between Brazil and Portugal, with an incursion into Mozambique through a film, ‘Our Madness’, which explores the colonial trauma of the past and will feature the presence of the director.
Portugal will be represented by two remarkable films, ‘Raiva’ by Sergio Tréfaut and ‘Terra Franca’ by Leonor Teles. These works question the past and present in a country seeking new perspectives.
Brazil, facing upheavals following the recent elections, will be represented by four films that evoke both the future and the history of this large country.
Here is the list of films that will be shown from March 27 to April 2 at the Mercury Cinema in Nice and at La Studio in Grasse.
