The Printemps des Arts will blow out its thirty candles on the occasion of this 4th weekend, during a great festive gathering in the most unexpected places of the Principality!

This weekend will also offer a “Children’s Day” on Wednesday with a creation by Marc Monnet, an “Outside the Walls” concert at La Turbie with the Ensemble Gilles Binchois, and the final part of the Scriabin Portrait with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra.

The Printemps des Arts will blow out its thirty candles on the occasion of this 4th weekend during a great festive gathering in the most unexpected places of the Principality!

On this Sunday, April 6, composers, poets, performers, improvisers, and conservatory students will be present to celebrate the festival. This weekend will also offer a “Children’s Day” on Wednesday with a creation by Marc Monnet, an “Outside the Walls” concert at La Turbie with the Ensemble Gilles Binchois, and the final part of the Scriabin Portrait with the RAI National Symphony Orchestra.

CHILDREN’S DAY | Wednesday, April 2

Three performances for this day dedicated to children, one of which reserved for schools in the morning. The Salle Empire will host the “Concert Bibilolo”, a fascinating creation by Marc Monnet, full of humor and rich in strange sounds. This playful piece, which pays homage to clowns, is for three electronic pianos and has also won the High School Students’ Prize. It will be performed by Laetitia Grisi, Stรฉphanos Thomopoulos, and Julie Martineau on pianos.

OUTSIDE THE WALLS โ€“ LA TURBIE | Thursday, April 3

The medieval songs of Love take the stage with the Ensemble Gilles Binchois, one of the greatest French ensembles for this repertoire, for an “Outside the Walls” evening at Saint-Michel Church in La Turbie! It has been a long time since Dominique Vellard’s ensemble performed secular medieval music, although the sacred is not far in this mystical ode to eternal love: “Lโ€™Amor de Lohn”. During this concert, East and West will blend in a poetic journey that includes Sephardic, Spanish, and Occitan music.

“The 3 minutes of” Gรฉrard Peisson, performed by Carmen Lefranรงois on saxophone, Constance Ronzatti on violin, and Askar Ishangaliyev on cello, will open the evening.

SCRIABIN PORTRAIT 4 | Friday, April 4

The final part of the Scriabin Portrait on April 4 at the Rainier III Auditorium with the exceptional presence of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Vedernikov and accompanied by pianist Alexei Volodin. It is with the orchestra that Scriabin found the true measure of his extravagance! His music will stretch delightfully, in an ocean of harmonies and virtuosity unique in their kind. “Reveries, op.24”, “Piano Concerto in F-sharp minor, op.20” and “Symphony No. 3 in C minor, op.43” will be performed. This “Divine Poem” will describe in three movements the evolution of the human soul…

In the opening, the audience will discover “The 3 minutes” by Bruno Mantovani, performed by Carmen Lefranรงois, Askar Ishangaliyev, and Nathanaรซl Gouin; as well as “The Minute (of Madness) by Charles Pennequin”.

HAYDN PORTRAIT 3 | Saturday, April 5

This Saturday, April 5 at the Salle Garnier, the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti, will perform hidden treasures of Joseph Haydn! The audience will (re)discover the symphony “The Clock”, in which the famous tick-tock of a pendulum mechanism is heard, and the “Keyboard Concerto No. 11”, with the vigor and incisive touch of Brazilian musician Nicolau de Figuereido.

Prior to the concert, “The 3 minutes of” Franck Bedrossian with Carmen Lefranรงois, Askar Ishangaliyev, and Vincent Lhermet will be presented to the audience.

Earlier in the day, the public can attend two masterclasses, one for harpsichord at the Rainier III Music Academy from 10 am to 1 pm with Nicolau de Figuereido, and another for piano at the Thรฉรขtre des Variรฉtรฉs from 2 pm to 5 pm with Franรงois-Frรฉdรฉric Guy. They can then go to listen to two “Young Talents!” at 6 pm at the Salle Empire. Constance Ronzati and Nathanaรซl Gouin will perform works by Takemitsu, Bartok, and Berio.

ANNIVERSARY DAY | Sunday, April 6

For this anniversary day, the festival has invited some artists who, through their talent and diversity, demonstrate the remarkable openness of the Printemps des Arts de Monte-Carlo: composers, poets, performers, improvisers, conservatory students, clowns… It is a great festive gathering that the festival invites the public to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its candles.

At 5 pm at the Casino Square, there will be a Grand Parade with the participation of students from the Rainier III Music Academy and regional conservatories. At 5:30 pm in the Atrium of the Casino, a performance by composer and visual artist Arno Fabre will follow. At 6 pm, head to the Salle Garnier for the Gala Evening, which will bring together poet Charles Pennequin, clown Housch-ma-Housch, the Zemlinsky Quartet, the Vegetable Orchestra, and many more for sound, theatrical, textual, and choreographic experiences…

Finally, the Life Club of Monaco will offer from 9:30 pm a “Cabaret Jazz” concert with Marc Ducret on guitar and Louis Sclavis on clarinet.
