The positive role of regular physical and sports activities (PSA) as a health factor is now widely recognized and no longer needs to be demonstrated.
In this regard, several national public health plans and programs have integrated PSA promotion and development into their prevention section as a health factor. They allocate a special place for people who are distant from this practice, particularly people with disabilities, individuals suffering from chronic illnesses, the elderly, and sedentary individuals.
Despite this effort, many populations remain distant from any physical practice, which contributes to reinforcing health inequalities.
Therefore, the two ministries of health and sports have wished for a plan of action to be implemented in each region, in collaboration with local authorities and the associative sector, to promote physical and sports activities for everyone, at all stages of life. This is part of a Regional Plan “Sport – Health – Well-Being.”
Following the conferences on February 7, 2013, in Mandelieu on the topics: Physical activities and pregnancy, as well as sports and respiratory difficulties, and on November 21 of the same year in Marseille: Physical activities and cancer, Toulon is next to host the third conference entitled: Physical Activity and Aging.
