On Monday, April 8, the President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes launched the Sustainable Beekeeping Plan 06.

Over the past fifteen years, there has been a particularly high global bee mortality rate (30 to 40%). Given the magnitude of this phenomenon, the Department, mindful of its environment and natural heritage, works daily to protect bees and pollinating insects.

In collaboration with the departmental beekeeping sector, the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes has just launched the Sustainable Beekeeping Plan 06, aimed at raising awareness and inviting various stakeholders to participate in a broad partnership alongside it.

Eric Ciotti presented a series of new measures for the protection of bees and the beekeeping profession, to complement actions already undertaken, and proposed that nurseries and gardening professionals join as partners of the Sustainable Beekeeping Plan 06 by providing advice to their customers on preserving bees in their gardens.

On this occasion, beekeepers talked about the functioning of the hive, their work, and their products. The Departmental Veterinary Laboratory presented its missions and specific actions concerning bees through various activities, including microscope observations. Finally, the managers of the Departmental Natural Parks showcased their actions in support of beekeeping and pollinating insects.
