The 7th edition of the “Artists’ Mass” will take place in Nice, at the Church of Saint Pierre d’Arène, this Wednesday at 6 PM. Theme: “The Artists Put on a Circus”.
This event, which gathers over a thousand people each year to share in an ecumenical manner, is an exceptional moment in a spirit of openness and communion.
Organized by the artists’ chaplain Yves-Marie Lequin, it features a lineup of about 200 artists, most of whom are professionals, from Nice or the region (110 visual artists including some art teachers, around fifty musicians and singers, and about thirty performing artists, including young students from a circus school).
This year, it benefits from the participation of actor Michael Lonsdale.
According to tradition, the mass is held on Ash Wednesday, but conceived as a total spectacle: classical music, cabaret performances, circus acts, performances, video projections, and… a religious celebration.
This extraordinary event is ecumenical in the broadest sense. “The Artists’ Mass, even the believers attend…”
