The Back-to-School Allowance, which is subject to income conditions, targets families with children aged 6 to 18 years old (born between September 16, 1988, and January 31, 2001, inclusive), who are either enrolled in school or undertaking an apprenticeship.
The amount is €268.01 * per child per year.
*A lesser amount may be granted if there is a slight exceedance of the resource ceiling.
If you are already a recipient of benefits from the Caf and…
– your child is aged 6 to 16 years?
The Caf will pay you the Back-to-School Allowance starting August 14, without any need for action on your part.
– your child is aged 16 to 18 years?
You will receive an “education certificate” by the end of August/early September to be completed by their educational institution and returned as quickly as possible to your Caf for the assessment of your entitlements.
If you are not a Caf beneficiary and have a child aged 6 to 18 years?
If your income did not exceed €17,299 for the year 2005, you might be eligible for Ars, provided you apply for it at your Caf.
Also useful to know: does your child under 6 years old start primary school?
Upon presenting a school certificate, you could qualify for Ars if your 2005 income is below the threshold.
