The renowned Nice Book Festival returns from May 31 to June 2, 2024, with the theme “Courage.”
The 28th edition of the Nice Book Festival from May 31 to June 2 will focus on the theme “courage.” Each year, the Nice Book Festival hosts more than 200 authors (novelists, poets, historians, politicians…). Throughout the festival, you will find various events such as: meetings and book signings with your favorite leading novelists, reading booths, shows, and multiple debates that will be held over the three days. Numerous activities will be featured in this 28th edition of the book festival.
Boualem Sansal, elected president of the Festival
For this new edition, it is the novelist Boualem Sansal who will preside over the festival. Having written over twenty books, he has continually faced censorship in his country, Algeria. He is a leading novelist of the Algerian civil war narratives, condemning the corrupt Algerian government. Despite offers of asylum from many countries, Boualem Sansal refuses to leave his country and continues to resist oppression.
On January 4, 2024 the novelist will release a brand new book titled “Living: The Countdown.” In this book, the author seems to ask us: How much time do we have left? The novel takes us to an apocalyptic world heading toward the extinction of mankind. Only a small group of men “the Chosen” are selected to escape the cataclysm aboard a spaceship. Taken to another planet, they must choose trustworthy individuals to participate in the successful establishment of a new humanity.
