Hélène Zuccarelli, from Cannes, was crowned the Champion of France in the Excellence Ladies category this weekend at the headquarters of the French Bridge Federation (FFB) in Saint-Cloud (Hauts-de-Seine), the true Stade de France for bridge players.
She won with Nicole Perez, from Cassis, who has been her partner for only 2 years.
Out of approximately 3000 participants at the start, through local and then regional qualifications, they were among more than 100 contenders competing for the national title.
Bridge, a mind sport
Suspense, strong sensations, and adrenaline rush guaranteed, bridge is experienced and shared without moderation. A new way to play bridge has evolved, competition, which turns it into a true sport. Like in tennis, bridge players are ranked.
In competition, chance does not play a role; players are given the same deals. It is the one who makes the best use of their hand that wins. Championships are organized at regional, national, and international levels in different categories (school, cadet, junior, senior, etc.).
In Federation clubs or on the Internet, bridge is now accessible to everyone. The development by the French Bridge Federation of a simplified teaching method has laid the foundations for democratization.
