For the 136th edition, which will take place from February 15 to February 29, the fashion theme has inspired stylists, illustrators, press cartoonists, and carnival artists alike.
Eight designers* have been selected. Maurice Antunes, Gérard Artufel, Virginie Broquet, Chad Crowe, Johan Garcia, Isefac Bachelor, Kristian, and Hervé Moreau have created the 18 sketches that will serve as inspiration for the conception of the 17 floats of the “King of Fashion” Carnival.
All characters will sit atop floats over 15 meters high during extravagant parades, expertly staged to revisit the history of fashion.
Yesterday morning, the sketches were presented at the Town Hall in the presence of their creators, who were thanked by the Mayor of Nice: “Thank you to the carnival artists who keep the spirit of the carnival alive by perpetuating this ancestral know-how, passed down from generation to generation. Their talent has allowed the classification of the carnival’s artisanal skills as a national intangible cultural heritage in July 2019.”
