The final of the Champion’s Cup REKUPO 2024 took place from May 28 to May 29, at the Allianz Riviera in Nice.
The 14th edition of the Champion’s Cup REKUPO, the largest competition for young footballers in France, will conclude at the Allianz Riviera in Nice during its grand final on May 28 and 29, 2024. “To date, we reach 628 clubs, and 6500 kids participate in their regions. Then the best from the 8 cities qualify for the final, which always takes place in a major stadium.” states Jean-Christophe Marquet, former OGC Nice footballer and founder of the Champion’s Cup REKUPO.
Like every edition, the competition first took place regionally. Then the selected teams came to compete against other teams from France. This year, a few new features were added. For example, teams from the leading “U11” category can face six professional clubs: PSG, OGC Nice, Stade Rennais, Racing Club de Lens, Girondins de Bordeaux, and FC Metz. “The goal is to shine a spotlight on amateur football and to develop the enjoyment of children so they can experience the French football infrastructures.” says Jean-Christophe Marquet.
The Environmental Focus at the Heart of the Champion’s Cup REKUPO
The children had access to the EcoDDS village. They could discover an educational exhibition on the recycling of chemical products, as well as games on waste sorting. The aim of this village is to raise awareness among both young and old about good recycling practices and the sorting of chemical waste. “The idea is for children to be educated about this at a very young age. So that we can ensure that chemical and hazardous waste is brought to the right places. And that they aren’t put in green or yellow bins!” confides Pierre Charlemagne, director of the EcoDDS organization and organizer of the village.
The initiative of this EcoDDS village is founded by Pierre Charlemagne, director of the EcoDDS organization. EcoDDS is an organization that takes care of collecting and treating chemical waste. They work with several companies that sell chemical products, where citizens return their waste. EcoDDS processes these products in conditions aimed at preserving the environment. “We find this arrangement in 2500 stores today in France and in the Doms. These are either professional stores, like comptoire seigneurie, or for the general public at Leroy Merlin, Castorama, or Monsieur Bricolage.” adds the director of EcoDDS.
