On the upcoming 26th and 27th of March at the Juliette Greco hall in the city of Carros, the short film festival returns. Building on the success of its first edition in 2010, Cinémator will appropriately celebrate its second edition.
An event through which film enthusiasts and novices can discover numerous short films stemming from amateur videography practices in a friendly atmosphere.
The short films will be presented and highlighted through competitions, which rhythm the majority of the event, with the participation of a jury composed of members from the Cinéactions association and professionals from the film and audiovisual industry, including the festival’s patron, Boris Dolivet. Many prizes are at stake.
This competition revolves around five distinct categories:
Film schools, post-secondary education in audiovisuals and filmmaking (fiction/documentary)
Schools with audiovisual and multimedia sections (fiction/documentary)
General public
3D/Flash Animation
Mobile phone films
Plus an additional category whose winner will be determined by public vote: Web series
In short, the Cinémator festival is a true opportunity for budding filmmakers to gain recognition, share their creations with an audience, and earn acknowledgment for their work.
Origins of the festival
Cinémator stems from a project by the Cinéaction association, which works towards promoting cinema and audiovisual arts in the Alpes-Maritimes department. To this end, it develops various animation activities aimed at both cinephiles and the general public, in collaboration with industry professionals. It is also a co-organizer of the feature-length and mid-length film festival “Cinéalma, the Soul of the Mediterranean,” with the city of Carros and the Festival TransMéditerranée association.
Also wishing to highlight amateur filmmaking and production, it conceived the Cinémator festival: An event marked by the quality of participants and works presented, aligning directly with a strategy for sustainability.
Promising assets:
Like its big brother “Cinéalma,” the Cinémator festival was created with the aim of popularizing the passions of the 7th art by promoting cinematographic works, and more broadly, audiovisual production.
Ultimately, it aspires to be a crossroads in the Mediterranean basin where a diversity of cultures, audiences, and expressions meet. Consequently, it presents specific characteristics that give it an original and unique identity.
Buoyed by the success of its first edition last year, Cinémator is embarking on this adventure again on the 26th & 27th of March: A vibrant edition graced by the presence of its patron, Boris Dolivet, co-author of the screenplay for the famous film “Les lascars.”
Exceptional Guests

Co-author of the renowned animated film “Lascars.”
A graduate of CFT Gobelins, this artist possesses multimedia talents as a screenwriter, director, animator, and illustrator.

Guest of Honor: Zoé Félix (tentative)
Currently rising star in French cinema, Zoé Félix began her film career somewhat by chance.
Noticed on the street by an agent, it was after two years of Fine Arts studies and a few theater internships that she landed her first role. Success was immediate, earning her the Best Actress award at the Béziers Young Actors Festival. Confident, she continued her path and starred in short films.
It was ‘La Beuze,’ the film by Mickaël Youn, that truly revealed her to the public. An unexpected opportunity arose when the initially chosen actress dropped out at the last minute, as Zoé Félix was not initially considered for the role. Her personality led her to prefer comedies over dark films: ‘L’ Incruste,’ ‘L’ Anniversaire,’… Instinctually, she favors happy and light stories without accepting to be confined to the roles of ditsy bimbos and now works alongside major players.
Her encounter with director Marc Esposito marked a turning point in her career: he restored her confidence during a difficult period and cast her in ‘Le Coeur des hommes’ without even an audition. In 2005, their collaboration continued with the release of ‘Toute la beauté du monde’: Zoé Félix secured the lead role, shining on-screen with her good humor and natural charisma.
Again directed by Marc Esposito, she reprised her role as Elsa in ‘Le Coeur des hommes 2’ in 2007. The following year, her freshness charmed Dany Boon, who offered her a role in ‘Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis’, a film praised by critics and the public, alongside Kad Merad.
In 2008, she also replaced Mélanie Doutey in the second season of the series ‘Clara Sheller’, broadcast on France 2.
This exceptional guest might also be part of the jury.
