This Wednesday, March 27, within the Théâtre de Nice, Christian Estrosi signed an agreement in partnership with the Académie de Nice as part of the fight against school bullying.

In the magnificent Salle des Franciscains, the signing of the agreement against school bullying took place Wednesday evening in the presence of officials, students from various schools, teachers, rectors, parents, and educational staff.

In France, 800,000 to 1 million children have experienced or are experiencing bullying, which represents 6% to 10% of them. The consequences are dramatic, ranging from bullying itself to dropping out of school, and sometimes even leading to suicide. The Rector of the Académie de Nice, Natacha Chicot, describes bullying as “a phenomenon that overwhelms us: multifaceted, it goes beyond the confines of the school.” To address this, the Académie de Nice is partnering with the City of Nice to combat this scourge that increasingly affects young people. “Today we are taking a new step,” announced Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice, following the signing.

To combat school bullying, it is necessary to allocate resources. Numerous measures have already been implemented in the Académie de Nice, such as the creation of an academic anti-bullying unit. This unit aims to provide school administrators and families with professionals who specialize in bullying to support and train staff. Thus, this new partnership is a continuation. It was born from the “willingness to act together,” emphasized the rector. It is essential for professionals and families to be trained together, to provide responses, to inform everyone about situations, and to raise awareness.
