Covid claims another victim, the Nice Book Festival, which was set to take place from September 18 to 20, after already being canceled once in May.
The list of canceled events is taking on unexpected dimensions, with significant negative economic repercussions.
Vaccine, vaccine… where are you?
The Nice City Hall announced this decision in a laconic tone: “Due to the current health crisis and the active circulation of Covid-19, the 2020 edition of the Book Festival initially scheduled for September 18 to 20 at the Jardin Albert Ier will now take place on May 28, 29, and 30, 2021.”
That’s all there is to say, no further explanation is needed.
Moreover, how can one organize the presence of nearly 200 exhibiting authors and about 60,000 visitors who love to stroll, chat, and have their purchased books signed?
Realistically, the conditions are not in place to ensure a cultural event true to its image.
“The absolute priority remains the health of everyone,” asserts the City Hall. So goodbye, and see you next year.”
