The culinary memory of Nice summed up in the kiosks

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the “Cuisine Nissarde” label being taken over by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Tourist Office, a 76-page bilingual magazine has been released at newsstands. It highlights the culinary heritage of the region and its transmission.

The magazine Manja!, whose name means “eat!” in Nissart, is now available. It marks an important moment in the promotion of Niçoise cuisine. This special edition is released for the 10th anniversary of the management of the “Cuisine Nissarde” label by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolitan Tourist Office (OTM NCA).

Resulting from a partnership between the OTM and the Nice Matin group, Manja! offers an exploration of local culinary traditions. Certified recipes, chef portraits, anecdotes, and reflections on health benefits: the ensemble forms a faithful panorama of a cuisine that connects memory and territory.

The magazine, entirely bilingual (French/English), targets a wide audience. It is available at newsstands in the Alpes-Maritimes, in several Tourist Information Offices, and online. It will also be for sale during the Nice Book Festival, from May 30 to June 1. Its price: €7.90.

A Label to Defend Niçoise Tradition

The “Cuisine Nissarde” label was created in 1995. It was born from the desire to preserve the recipes and know-how of a territory. Initially supported by UDOTSI and Capelina d’or, it has been managed by the OTM for the past ten years.

This label distinguishes establishments committed to respecting the traditional recipes of Niçoise cuisine. Today, 32 establishments across 13 towns hold it. It is a dual label, awarded after the opinion of a technical committee composed of experts.

Niçoise cuisine is one of the few to bear the name of its city. It has been listed as part of France’s intangible cultural heritage since 2019. Through this label, the OTM is also part of a broader initiative to seek its inclusion in UNESCO’s World Heritage.

The 10th-anniversary program of the label doesn’t stop with the magazine’s release. Other actions are planned: conferences, workshops, school activities. The objective is clear: to transmit, raise awareness, spark curiosity, and encourage practice.

With Manja!, the OTM NCA offers a product sold for €7.90, which appeals to both visitors and residents. A concrete way to keep a living heritage vibrant, both on the plate and in minds.
