Organized by the City of Nice and the Mediterranean Network, the event will take place this Friday, December 8th. But what exactly is it?
The first 1000 days (from the early months of pregnancy to the start of kindergarten) correspond to the crucial period for a child’s development concerning their health and well-being, as well as that of their parents. It is the time to lay certain foundations of life with them, for both the child and the adult they will become.
The goal is to inform future parents and parents of children under two years old about the influence of environments (understood in all their dimensions: physico-chemical, emotional, and social) on their health and that of their children.
Who is behind the concept?
Designed by Public Health France, the organization is part of a global strategy for deploying national policies and supporting regional policies in the areas of prevention, education, and health promotion. If this approach can also help as many people as possible to reduce everyday risks during such a pivotal period as the first 1000 days…
The Program
9:30 AM: Roundtable
- Morning reserved for professionals bringing together institutional, private, associative, and mutual actors from the region who work in the fields of health and prevention, environmental health, perinatal care, early childhood, and social matters within the “collective of 1000 first days Nice professionals” whose mission will be to establish the charter aimed at constructing the “local plan for the first 1000 days of our territory.”
5:00 PM: Conference by Boris Cyrulnik “1000 First Days: Becoming a Parent”
- Public conference by Boris Cyrulnik, neuropsychiatrist and president of the 1000 First Days Commission, for whom the 1000 first days “imprint in the child’s memory a base that launches them into relational and verbal acquisitions. It’s a good start, but not everything is predetermined. The plasticity of neurological, emotional, and verbal developments provides secure attachment which facilitates all other developments.” Free entry upon registration.
