On the occasion of the European Archaeology Days, the city of Nice offers a program to step into the shoes of an archaeologist. Activities, ceramics, grave excavation… on June 15 and 16, come handle, visit, and meet archaeologists and researchers at the Castle Hill.

The archaeology village awaits you this weekend at Castle Hill for an event celebrated throughout Europe. The European Archaeology Days aim to promote and raise public awareness about the importance of preserving archaeological heritage. For this purpose, the city of Nice offers a two-day program.

A Weekend of Exploration and Knowledge

During this weekend, adults and children can participate in various activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Workshops and games for the little ones: excavation, creation, and discovery. But also conferences held by the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Archaeology service. These will last 20 to 30 minutes and will cover topics such as medieval ceramics in the Alpes-Maritime, fuel for bell-making in the Middle Ages, as well as underwater archaeology, dendrochronology, and the making of the first prehistoric glue.

Additionally, guided tours are also organized. They will be conducted by guide-lecturers from the City of Art and History Service and archaeologists from the Metropolis. The spots are limited to 15 people per visit. You will be able to discover the archaeological site of Castle Hill and the archaeological crypt. With an appointment on-site or by reservation.
