The ME AM and CIFE are co-organizing, at the request of the Union of European Federalists and the Federalist Press, a conference-debate this Monday at 7:00 PM at CIFE in Nice.

Two authors, both academics, one from Bologna and the other from Montpellier, will discuss, through their book, the European vision of Albert Camus: ALGERIA, EUROPE, THE WORLD, AND FEDERALISM.

Indeed, for Camus, a convinced federalist, a European and global federation was the best remedy against wars and the excesses of nationalism.
The war and the Resistance strengthened his commitment to a political federation of Europe, aided his reflection and stances regarding nationalism, the nation-state, and his post-war political interventions.

On the death penalty: “In the united Europe of tomorrow (…) the solemn abolition of the death penalty should be the first article of the European Code we all hope for” (Gallimard – Pléiade – Volume 4 Complete Works)
On Spain, 1936: “No Europe, no culture will be free if it is built on the servitude of the Spanish people.”
