The eurozone sees its unemployment rate decrease in December. Eurostat indeed announces 10.4% of job seekers, a figure down by 0.1 percentage points compared to November. France, with 10.2%, is positioned slightly below the eurozone average.
This represents 340,000 fewer unemployed people in the fourth quarter, compared to a more marked decrease of 567,000 unemployed people in the third quarter.
While the decline in December is obviously good news, as the consensus of analysts expected stability (10.5%, therefore).
Country by country, the situation naturally varies greatly. Germany, with its estimated unemployment rate of 4.5%, impresses with the dynamism of its economy. Greece was at 24.5% in October, the latest known figure for the country.
