Until Thursday, January 31, the Departmental Archives of the Alpes-Maritimes are presenting the exhibition “Between Sky, Sea, and Land: The Monastic Island of Lérins (5th-20th century).”

15 centuries of history of one of the oldest Western monasteries, illuminated by the most recent scientific research.

For the first time, thanks to exceptional loans, an exhibition dedicated to the Abbey of Lérins brings together in their greatest diversity written sources, archaeological objects, and graphic and pictorial works, dating from the 8th to the 20th century, from various institutions: documents, photographs, books, and 14th-century lapidary preserved at the Abbey of Lérins; medieval charters from the Princely Palace of Monaco and the Departmental Archives of the Bouches-du-Rhône; archaeological objects and works from the museums of the City of Cannes; 15th-century reliquaries belonging to the towns of Auribeau-sur-Siagne and Mougins.

The ancient collection of the Abbey of Lérins (11th-18th century) is preserved at the Departmental Archives of the Alpes-Maritimes.
