Claude BATEL, President of the Federation of Master Bakers and Pastry Bakers of the Alpes-Maritimes, will review the economic situation of the profession in the Alpes-Maritimes.

Bakery and pastry businesses in the Alpes-Maritimes: 420 businesses, 390 bakers, 2,500 employees, 170 million in turnover.
Bakery-pastry businesses hold the leading position within the food crafts sector and are among the most frequented local retail stores.

At the national level, this sector comprises 34,000 businesses employing 143,000 people, with a turnover of 7.5 billion Euros excluding taxes.
In the Alpes-Maritimes department, the bakery sector is above the departmental average with 420 bakeries and a turnover of 170 million Euros.

In the city of Nice, there are 170 artisan bakers, whose turnover represents 40 million Euros. 180 apprentices are enrolled in the 1st and 2nd year at the CFA of Carros.
