For the 4th year, Lโ€™ร‰tudiant organizes in partnership with the SNCF and the stopover cities, the Orientation Train, transforming train stations into information hubs on orientation and student life for a day. With more than 70% of regional exhibitors at each stop, this traveling train allows young people to interact with local stakeholders.

train_orinetation.jpg Bearing the colors of Lโ€™ร‰tudiant and its partners, the Orientation Train consists of 5 sectorized cars that host exhibitors (universities, professional organizations, institutions, training organizations, high schools, grandes รฉcoles), and a “conference car”. This car is specially designed to facilitate interactions between young people and professionals on studies, training, and careers.

This year, the train tours 12 student cities. Twelve stops to connect young people and their parents with higher education professionals, as well as with economic stakeholders such as professional federations, institutions, and companies.

After Nancy, Strasbourg, Dijon, Annecy, and Avignon, Nice welcomes the orientation train on Sunday, November 20, from 10 AM to 6 PM. The tour will then continue to Toulon on November 23, Toulouse on November 26, Perpignan on November 27, Pau on November 30, Angers on December 3, and Le Mans on December 4.

The city of Nice has risen in two years (2010-2011) from the 14th to the 8th place in the ranking of “cities where it is good to study”, established by the magazine Lโ€™ร‰tudiant (and from 7th to 5th place among metropolises).

Nice supports the vitality and dynamism of the student community and associations. The city is mobilized alongside all partners (University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, other local authorities, student associations, social landlords…) to offer pleasant study conditions and a living environment to 35,000 students from Nice.

The University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis, selected as a “Promising Campus” in 2008, will become in the coming years a center of academic excellence in the Southeast region at the heart of the Euro-Mediterranean territory.

After Lyon, Nice will be the 2nd city in France to host an Agora-รฉ (a student agora), a system aimed at fighting against exclusions and precariousness faced by students. Christian Estrosi announced it on October 17.

Furthermore, by 2014 the supply of student social housing will have increased in the municipality by 76% and will reach a total of 3,473 units.

The city of Nice provides continuous support to the University through grants as part of the 2000-2006 Plan Contract and the 2007-2013 Project Contract.

Since 2009, it has launched an internet portal dedicated to students and student associations who can easily and freely communicate on this new platform aimed at student life in the Riviera region: https://etudiants.nice.fr.
