Creation by Chinese Amber
![Chinese Amber](https://www.nicepremium.fr/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/jpg_ambre-chinoise.jpg) Recap of events already held in China:

Chinese Amber, the eponymous label of the Ambre International branch in China, will be the third event organized by twoUtwo.
The dynamic from France to China, the first was initiated by twoUtwo during the CIGE1 (China International Gallery Exposition โ€“ Beijing) from April 12 to 16, 2006. Aiming to be part of the intercultural and artistic exchange efforts initiated by French authorities in China, it featured several French artists in collaboration with Ambre International: Elena, GregBot, Lydia Corbeau, Laurent Haudebert, Inca, Jenkell, M.E.T.C.U.C., M.S. The setup included dancers in traditional outfits, performing graceful movements in relation to the showcased pieces. Two of the artists, Jenkell and M.E.T.C.U.C., caught the interest of Beijing’s Creek Art Gallery and are already part of their collection.

The second event was held as part of the DIAF2 (Dashanzi International Art Festival โ€“ Beijing), from April 29 to May 14, 2006. Thirty dancers with Chinese opera masks moved through various locations in the 798 district, the hub of the contemporary Chinese art market globally. Galleries invited the public to an original dance-art performance, linking the artworks to the context through these lively and sensitive dancers.

In Nice:

We are pleased to invite you to the third event, this time the dynamic is from China to France. From September 2 to 10, Galerie Ferrero hosts a selection of Chinese artists (Fang Yixiu, Iris, Li Fang, Liu Bin, Man Yu, Qi Wenzhang, Wu Yuren), most of whom are part of the collection of the Orange Gallery. Thus, the first contemporary art gallery in Canton (Guangzhou) โ€“ inaugurated in 2006 โ€“ and the first contemporary art gallery in Nice โ€“ established in 1954 โ€“ will officially meet during this exhibition, reaffirming the twinning between Canton and the PACA region.

Why Chinese Amber?
![Chinese Amber](https://www.nicepremium.fr/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/jpg_ambre-chinoise-greg.jpg) Amber, through the aesthetics of its material, already connected Europe to China two centuries before our era. TwoUtwo and Ambre International are partners to implement this idea of openness, nomadism, and exchange between the international and French artistic scenes.

This fossilized substance could be taken as an example of universal beauty. In whatever periods or regions of the world that discovered it, it charmed and still captivates its audience: talismans in Gaul, brooches for Roman women’s hair, incense in Persia, rosaries made by Bruges craftsmen, little good luck hands in Morocco, mouthpieces for hookahs… An idea of primal and mundane beauty, yet interesting and attractive, sacrificed on the altar of contemporary art elitism and recuperated by the advertising world. The Chinese creation may allow a renewal of our definitions of art which have long become fossilized. Could Chinese amber also have healing virtues for French art?

On the other hand, the contemporary art market tries to simplify, categorize, and frame Chinese creation. We talk about political pop, cynical realism. “While it is true that countries and artists from Africa, Asia, Latin America, or Eastern Europe are making their entrance onto the international art scene, it must be acknowledged that it remains largely dominated by Western values. In fact, this expansion, particularly through biennials, remains quite limited as it brings together a rather small group of recognized and famous art players: artists, curators, gallerists, collectors, commentators, etc.” The aim here is to infuse, to provide keys to prevent Chinese contemporary art from becoming the idea that the international contemporary art market has of Chinese contemporary art. To avoid simplification, centralization of the market in Beijing and Shanghai, giving artists a chance to have their creations recognized beyond pre-defined currents… to invent a new contemporary art!

The Chinese Partner Gallery:

The Orange Gallery, covering an area of 500 square meters, is located in Dongfeng Park near the central business district of Tianhe, Guangzhou (Canton). While fully appreciating the advantages of its quiet and elegant environment, The Orange Gallery dedicates itself to the existence of both a refined meeting and discussion space between artists and the public, and a platform for transactions, acting as an agent for recognized artists, as well as a sponsor of regular exhibitions and conferences. Adhering to principles of efficiency and expertise, holding professional and meticulous services, the Gallery invests in creating a space for encounters and discussions but also acting as a platform for transactions.
