The Festival du Peu in Bonson: Art, Culture, and Social Connection

Latest News

The Festival du Peu, which takes place this weekend and runs until July 3rd in Bonson, is a fortunate encounter between an artist and a public administrator.

In fact, the Peu is one of the favorite subjects of the artist Jean Mas. This artist, who developed within the Ecole de Nice, has been exploring the concept of the Peu for years through a graphic and semantic research.

Jean-Marie Audoli, the mayor of Bonson, saw in this work the starting point for a Bonson event. With the commitment of the town council, the festival was born in 2003, involving the village population so that everyone could create a Peu.

Since 2003, 180 artists have exhibited at the Festival.

With a collective exhibition of contemporary art every summer, the Festival du Peu has amassed a series of experiences that reconsider creation outside the usual art world norms. Atypical in its presentation modeโ€”an exhibition that takes over an entire village in spaces as conventional as they are unexpectedโ€”the festival is also unique in its committee-based organization, as well as its open programming, which leads to various thematic explorationsโ€”air, movement, infinity, taste, sound, letter, etc.

Appealing to all modes of expression, showcasing the works of emerging artists as well as those of established creators, the Festival du Peu today offers a unique proposition in the artistic landscape of the Cรดte d’Azur.

Most of the artists exhibiting are from the Cรดte d’Azur and surrounding areas.
