The Fondation de France Méditerranée awarded its “2016 laurels” for the region this Tuesday. This is a competition that has been organized for 12 years with the aim of highlighting local projects that the Fondation de France has supported on the ground through the actions of its 6 regional foundations.

In the spotlight: innovative and exemplary local initiatives, led by small grassroots associations for which the Fondation de France is the primary private supporter, and which address the areas of assistance to vulnerable individuals, the development of knowledge, and the environment.

Thus, 12 projects will be rewarded in the Mediterranean region, all of which have already been financially supported by the Fondation de France Méditerranée since 2014 and 2015. Among these 12 laureates, 2 are from the Alpes Maritimes department.

The project from Nice takes place in the Ariane district of Nice, where the Maurice Jaubert middle school is developing a new form of pedagogy based on the work of Serge Boimare, an educational psychologist.

These “Fil d’Ariane” classes aim to secure the transition from school to middle school in an inclusive perspective by associating students from Segpa classes, with persistent learning difficulties, and students from general classes.

With the holding of a daily debate at the start of the day and the extension of this “cultural nourishment” through artistic practice and cultural outings, the institution has shown that it is possible, in middle school, to work in an interdisciplinary manner with tools such as culture, language, and communication to promote students’ motivation and appetite for learning.
