The Granfondo Challenge in Saint-Martin-Vésubie

Latest News

Join us this Sunday in Saint-Martin-Vésubie for the Mercan’Tour Turini Officine Mattio, the 7th stage of the 2019 Alpes-Maritimes Granfondo Challenge.

A true mountain challenge, at the gates of the Mercantour, in a wild and preserved environment, less than an hour from Nice and the Mediterranean!

With two courses planned for the day, a 115 km and a 125 km, starting from Saint-Martin-Vésubie, “the Swiss of Nice,” participants will encounter an incredible diversity of landscapes, from the dark spruce forests of Turini and Boréon, to the olive trees and Mediterranean vegetation of Sospel and the Col de Braus.

Standing at 1,607 meters, Turini is internationally known and will be the highlight of this cyclosportive race with its multiple slopes and countless hairpin bends. It is both one of the riders’ favorite and most feared passes.

Launched in 2017 by the Alpes-Maritimes Department, the cyclosportive Challenge has consistently attracted new competitors.

While the first challenge consisted of 5 events, the second edition already included 7 races.

In 2019, an additional date awaits competitors for 8 events, making this new format an essential meeting for international athletes.

With 8 events offered this year, including the Fausto Coppi, this Cyclosportive Challenge has gained international stature and has become an essential event. With nearly 5,000 participants across all events, this rapid success reflects the enthusiasm for our department regarding this sport.
