The Haute Route: The Grand Start!

Latest News

In the starting blocks! After long months of training, the runners gathered in Geneva for the final preparations and to pick up their race numbers.
An atmosphere mixed with excitement and tension prevailed in the village, both on the organizational side and among the participants!

The start of the 1st stage Geneva – Megรจve took place right in the heart of Geneva, at the English Garden at precisely 7:20 AM.

After an initial part in a secured convoy, the actual start will be given at kilometer 23 in Bonne, a good warm-up before tackling the Col de la Colombiรจre. Then, a rapid descent towards Le Grand-Bornand awaits the runners before climbing the Col des Aravis, the second challenge of the day.

The end of this first stage unfolds in the Val d’Arly for the last 10 kilometers, with the runners crossing the finish line after 109 km in the saddle.

Regarding the weather, competitors will need to prioritize hydration: the runners will lose between half a liter of water for those with smaller builds, and 1 to 1.5 liters for the more robust ones.

Therefore, it’s important to stay hydrated regularly, but also to cool down by splashing the neck and face, and the legs, to slightly lower the body temperature and thus promote recovery between the stages.

Hydration is key; the runners who stand out will be those most attuned to their bodies and who avoid the red zone.
