The Henri Chrétien Pavilion of the Nice Observatory

Latest News

Inaugurated in 1888, the Côte d’Azur Observatory was designed by Charles Garnier and Gustave Eiffel. It remains today an internationally recognized research institution.

The Henri Chrétien pavilion, which houses the Observatory’s library and the offices of researchers from the Lagrange laboratory, comprises three building sections situated on the western slope of Mont Gros overlooking the City of Nice and the entire Bay of Angels.

The pavilion requires renovation to provide researchers with a functional and secure workspace, accommodating offices and libraries.

The facades and roofs, which are outdated and somewhat altered, need to be restored as closely as possible to the original intentions of Charles Garnier.

The Alpes-Maritimes Heritage Foundation is launching a fundraising campaign.
