This evening at 7 PM in the premises of Nice-Matin, the first event of the Maison de l’Europe Côte d’Azur Var will take place. It is the 37th in France, a member of the Fédération française des Maisons de l’Europe (FFME), established in 1961. It is an association independent of political parties and autonomous from community and national institutions.
For this inauguration, the governing bodies have planned a conference-debate on a highly topical theme: “What European protection in the face of digital challenges?”
It will be hosted by Jean-Marie Cavada, journalist and MEP from 2004 to 2019, and Thierry Leray, head of the Telis group, based in Monaco, specializing in new technologies and information and communication systems.
What is the purpose of a Maison de l’Europe?
“To answer many questions we have about European institutions,” explains Odile Menozzi, president of the European Movement who will preside over this branch. “And above all, to enlighten citizens on questions they don’t ask! About what is unknown yet still exists. In France, 13.5 billion euros of European funds are distributed, including 950 million to the South Region. We are not aware enough that we live with Europe.”
