This exhibition, open to everyone, will introduce visitors to the world of bees and beekeeping through technical demonstrations and real swarms.
Educational activities will be offered to primary schools in the city of Nice, allowing students to discover all the aspects of the world of bees and its utilization:
– Workshop “from insect to bee”: What is an insect? Observations and handling of live insects. What is a bee? The bee and its cousins, the life of a bee from its birth to its death (observation of bees under a magnifying glass).
– Workshop game on different types of honey and wax candle making: the taste memory and the work of wax.
– Observation of a hive in activity: with a glass-walled hive to observe the work of the bees safely.
– Guided tour of the exhibition.
Different primary school classes will be welcomed in the mornings from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM and in the afternoons from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Tuesday, September 16, 23, and 30, 2008, and Thursday, September 11, 18, and 25, 2008.
To conclude this exhibition, a honey and bees fair will be organized by the Maison de lโEnvironnement on Saturday, September 27, 2008, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Numerous workshops will be open to the public to help them discover these wonderful little creatures.
