3.8 km of swimming, 180 km of biking, and to finish, a 42.195 km marathon: these are the three Herculean tasks that 1151 athletes will face at the IronMan France-Nice Triathlon on Sunday, June 25th in Nice. This Azurean event is one of the stages of the IronMan circuit and will qualify fifty participants for the IronMan World Championship on October 21st in Hawaii.
The kick-off will be at 6:30 AM at the Centenaire Beach with the swimming event in the deep blue sea. The triathletes will then continue with a cycling loop through the hinterlands of Nice. Cyclists will pass through Saint-Laurent du Var, Saint Jeannet, Gattières, Carros, Vence, Tourrettes sur Loup, Le Bar sur Loup, Châteneuf de Grasse, Gourdon, Caussols, Gréolières, Courségoules, Bouyon, and Le Broc. Once off the bikes, athletes will don their running shoes to cover the 42 km marathon in four loops from the Théâtre de Verdure to the Parc Phoénix in Nice. The winner is expected to cross the finish line in less than sixteen hours.
The organizers expect 50,000 spectators who will cheer on the athletes from fifty different countries during the 226 km journey of endurance and self-surpassing. Alongside the competition, numerous entertainment activities are planned. A village has been set up since Thursday at Place Albert Ier. Foreshadowing the great summer ball, the event will be a grand festivity orchestrated by 5 speakers and DJs. Starting at 6:30 AM, the sound will be turned up and will light up the Promenade des Anglais.
Don Ryder, a star speaker from the IRONMAN in Hawaii, follows the organizers from TRIANGLE (organizer of IronMan France) at all their events. His triathlon culture and enthusiasm will give wings to competitors. Mike Mike and DJ Sonja will add their touch of madness. They are the official hosts of the IRONMAN 70.3 Championship in Florida. As for the French newcomer Style, he brings his mixed culture of triathlon and extreme sports. Michel Hortala will animate both the Herbalife Expo Village from June 22 to 26 in the Jardins Albert 1er and the race on Sunday, with his warm southern voice.
A highlight of the entertainment will be a fireworks display launched on Sunday at 10:30 PM to celebrate the winner, following Hervé Faure who won the first edition in Nice in 2005.

Thursday, June 22: Inauguration of the Triathlon Village
The Ironman week will open with the inauguration of the Triathlon Village, on Thursday, June 22 at 12 PM, at the music kiosk of the Jardin Albert 1er.
Sunday, June 25: Ironman competition day
This competition offers participants a unique day of effort and emotion. The triathlon is composed of three events: 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike ride, and 42.195 km run. Talented speakers and DJs from around the world will enliven this beautiful challenge.
